life story
Beloved husband, father, brother, teacher and follower of Christ
Daniel “Dan” Walker, devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and servant of Christ, passed peacefully into the presence of his Savior at the age of 64 on June 19, 2025, following an eight-year journey with early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease.
Dan was married to his beloved wife, Kirsten, for 43 years. Together, they built a life centered on faith, love, and family. He was a proud and loving father to two daughters: Rebekah, married to Kelton Zacharias, with whom he shared the joy of three grandchildren; and Rachel, married to Tim Churchill. Dan cherished his role as a father and grandfather, finding immense joy in their lives and accomplishments.
A gifted and passionate educator, Dan served as a teacher and coach for over 30 years. His classroom was a place where curiosity was encouraged, truth was valued, and students were known and loved. He was known for loving coffee and donuts, handing out “work tickets”, and always finding time for a round of Geography Bowl.
Dan was the son of Don and Mary Jane, and one of seven siblings. As a brother, he was steady, generous, and filled with laughter. His family roots ran deep, and he carried the legacy of love and faith passed down to him with quiet strength.
Above all, Dan was a man who loved Jesus. His faith shaped every part of his life—how he taught, how he served, how he loved. Whether through Sunday morning worship, one-on-one conversations, or a simple act of kindness, Dan reflected the heart of Christ to those around him.
He lived his life with humility, wisdom, and grace. Those who knew him will remember his warm presence, his sense of humor, and his servant’s heart - he was always looking for ways to quietly help others. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Sports and shared that love with his girls.
Dan’s life was a living testimony to the hope and joy found in Christ, and though he is deeply missed, we rejoice knowing he is home.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held July 2 at 10am at River Valley Church Crosstown. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or River Valley Kingdom Builders (The missions ministry of his church).
