Marellen Mae Farsund (Finnegan)

Marellen (Marly) Mae Farsund, born on February 9,1937 in Aberdeen, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 4, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Marly was the cherished daughter of Paul and Arlene (Tormey) Finnegan. On August 23, 1969 she married the love of her life Gary Farsund, and together they built a warm and welcoming home in Bloomington, MN, where they raised their children Derek, Shannon and Michelle. A devoted member of St. Edward’s Church and dedicated volunteer at VEAP, Marly touched countless lives with her generosity and compassion. She was a gifted and passionate teacher, always eager to nurture others and share her wisdom.

Marly found joy in life’s simple pleasures- golfing, playing games with friends, watching sports especially when her grandchildren played, preparing delicious meals and spending time with her family. Her happiest moments were often at the family cabin in Webb Lake, WI, a place filled with laughter, love, and treasured memories. Marly had an extraordinary heart and remarkable strength that inspired everyone who knew her. She was a true warrior in every sense- resilient, loving, and endlessly kind. Her legacy of warmth, courage and unwavering care will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.

Survivors include her husband Gary, a son Derek (Karen) Farsund, a daughter Michelle (Brian) Farsund-Hall, and many grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Shannon.

A celebration of Marly’s life will be held at a later date, in lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to a scholarship fund or your favorite charity.
