Michael J. Buffington

Michael Jeff Buffington of Braham, MN passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Abbott Hospital after a long battle with cardiovascular issues. He was 69 years old.

Mike was born June 12, 1955 to Dale and Vivian (Carlson) Buffington in Moorhead, MN. The family moved to the Isanti area in 1960. He attended Cambridge Isanti High School.

He married his former wife Verle (Harmon) Johnson May 9, 1973 where he was blessed with two children.

He enlisted in the US Navy in 1973 where he served his country until 1977. He was stationed in Japan initially and finished out his naval career in San Diego, CA. His interest in cars turned into a career of auto body collision repair following into his father’s footsteps.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, feeling the wind in his face on his Harley, and playing pool. He was very creative and artistic. He enjoyed woodworking, painting and drawing, and a variety creative projects.

He is preceded in death by his mother Vivian Buffington, father Dale Buffington, sister Rozanna Corgard and niece Ify Okafor.

He is survived by his daughter Tina (Harold) Engberg, son Troy (Tracy Kling) Buffington; sisters Patricia Okafor and Cindy (Ron) Monson; grandchildren Calvin, Matt, Makena, Garrett and Maxael; two great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be a private burial at Fort Snelling - July 15th. Celebration of Life yet to be determined.
