life story

Ronald Eugene Simpson, a resident of Annandale, Minnesota, passed away on May 4, 2025, at United Hospital in St. Paul after a relatively brief illness. He was surrounded by his family during his passing.

Ron was born on September 25, 1938, in York, Pennsylvania, to Dwight and Mary Plitt Simpson.

A graduate of New Cumberland High School in 1956, he joined the Pennsylvania National Guard and served until his honorable discharge in 1963.

Ron married Barbara Stoner in 1960, and they had two children together. Despite their divorce in 1989, they remained friendly and committed to their family, allowing them to spend quality time together during holidays and special occasions.

Ron spent much of his career as the Personnel Director at Friends’ Hospital in Philadelphia. He worked there from 1970 until his semi-retirement in 1991. Afterward, he held various part-time positions helping children. Initially, he worked as a personal caregiver at Ken Crest Services in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. Later, when he moved to Indiana to be closer to his children, he became a teacher’s assistant at Murdock Elementary and later at Glen Acres Elementary in the Lafayette School Corporation.

In 2014, Ron made a final move to Minnesota, where he cherished the opportunity to watch his two grandchildren grow up.

Ron will be missed by his family and friends. His son, Steve Simpson, resides in Minneapolis, MN, while his daughter, Linda Simpson Pacel, son-in-law, Tim, and their two grandchildren, Emily and Trevor Pacel, live in Buffalo, MN.

Preceding Ron in death are his brothers, Larry and Dwight Simpson.

Ron’s wishes were to be cremated. While he requested that there be no memorial service, he asks family and friends who are interested to donate to their favorite charity.

And to be kind to one another.
