In Loving Memory
Memorial service will be held at Enfield Crematorium, June 23rd at 3p.m. All are welcome.
Simon Dawson died peacefully in his home on May 24, 2025 in Plymouth, MN.
Simon was born on November 14, 1963 in Enfield, a borough in North London to Colin and Patricia Dawson. He attended St. Paul’s Primary School, Edmonton County Secondary School and Southgate Technical College where he trained to be a chef. He worked at Westlodge Park Hotel, Compass Catering and later in sales and purchasing for Unilever, Premier Foods and the Cara Irish Pub Group.
While working for Unilever, he moved to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There, he met Heather, an American healthcare worker. They quickly became inseparable and moved to Minnesota to get married. They bought a home in Anoka, which Simon restored and then later moved to Plymouth. The couple welcomed two children and Simon doted on them. Sydney and Josephine remember him as an involved father who loved skiing and traveling with them and encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Simon was an excellent cook and loved to entertain. The annual Dawson Curry Parties were legendary and Sunday Suppers gave Simon and Heather a chance to enjoy their neighbors and prepare delicious meals. Simon enjoyed working with his hands and was happiest when he was working on a project. His love for Formula 1 racing took him around the globe with his friends. He also loved watching football, (or soccer if using the American terminology) and documentaries.
Simon is survived by his wife Heather; children, Sydney and Josephine; and brother Glen. He is preceded in death by parents Colin and Patricia Dawson of Enfield, England. For those who wish to celebrate Simon’s life, there will be a gathering at Brits Pub in Minneapolis on Saturday, June 7th at 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend and raise a glass to Simon. A memorial service will be held at Enfield Crematorium in England on June 23rd at 3 p.m.
