Stephen Smith, born on October 16, 1952, in Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He was 72 years old.

Stephen proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1975 to 1982. His time in the service reflected a deep sense of duty and commitment that remained a defining part of his character throughout his life.

Family was at the heart of Stephen’s world. He found profound joy in spending time with those closest to him and held a special place in his heart for his only daughter, Tiana Ross. As a grandfather to Destiny Ross, Jaydon Ross, and Anastasia Ross, Stephen embraced every moment with warmth and pride. His love for them was steadfast and deeply felt.

He is also lovingly remembered by his sister Valarie Brevard and brother Stanley Smith. A cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews, Stephen’s legacy will live on through their memories and stories. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Annette Smith; his parents, Willie Ann Smith and Robert Smith; and his brother Reginald Smith.

Beyond family and service, Stephen had a passion for cooking and football. Whether preparing meals that brought people together or cheering enthusiastically for his favorite teams, he approached these joys with enthusiasm that was contagious.

Stephen's life was one marked by loyalty—to his country, to those he loved, and to the simple pleasures that made life meaningful. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
